Job Description


REPORTS TO: President of CALA
Works with the President and Board of Directors to ensure the objectives and goals of all aspects of CALA's business and its affiliate organizations are met. As requested and where needed, represents the President at member and non-member events and meetings.

Event /Meeting Planning
Assists with planning, coordinating, and oversight of all CALA/ISLE events and meetings with primary focus on CALA's Annual Meeting, CALA's Caregiver Awards Program, CALA's/ISLE's Annual Conference and Trade Show, CALA's Golf Outing, CALA's/ISLE's SALSA Course, CALA's/ISLE's Executive Director Certification Course, and other educational offerings presented by CALA and ISLE.

Member Communication/Reporting
Assists with the development and distribution of member communications via the ENewsletter, Fax Blasts, Website, Memorandums, Brochures, and all collateral materials.

Member Interface
Meets with CALA members on an ongoing basis to solicit ideas for added value, education offerings, concerns, innovations, etc., and reports to the President and Board of Directors as requested.

Committee Management/Interface
Works with the chairs and members of each of CALA's standing (and ad hoc committees as needed), to offer support, and to ensure that the fulfillment of each committee's objectives and goals are met in a timely manner.

Membership Development
Works with the President to increase membership and implement successful marketing strategies for CALA and its affiliate organizations on an on-going basis.

We are currently seeking an experienced Engage Life Director to join our team at Atria Greenridge Place in Rocky Hill, CT. The primary job function of the Engage Life Director is to create and run a great recreational program for our residents. We are looking for a high energy, dynamic person to fulfill one of the most essential positions in our company. Our Senior Residents are active and want to be engaged every day in a diverse program.

Scope of Responsibilities Include:
  • Stimulate our residents by offering activities that promote mental, intellectual, creative, spiritual and physical well being
  • Plan and help write the monthly calendar and newsletter
  • Plan events and various outings that would appeal to our residents
Qualifications
Requirements Include:
  • Bachelors Degree in Recreation Therapy or related field plus 2 years experience working with a senior population OR
  • Associates Degree in Recreation Therapy or related field plus 4 years experience working with a senior population
  • 1+ years planning and running group activities- experience with seniors highly preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Experience teaching, mentoring or coaching others
  • Experience coordinating and scheduling volunteers
  • Knowledge of Humanities, Creative Arts, World History and Cultures, Entertainment and Exercise
  • Must have excellent organizational and time management skills

Resident Care Nurse 3-8 pm Mon-Fri and every other weekend.

RELATIONSHIP:
The Resident Care Nurse reports directly to the Resident Care Director.

PURPOSE:
The Resident Care Nurse is responsible to assist in a successful operation of the resident care department, including the direct supervision of Resident Care Associate positions.
It is also the responsibility to train, educate and discipline Resident Care Associates as needed. This position is responsible for all nursing care and continually assesses all residents daily per Resident Care Director's direction.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs Clinical Assessments as needed for residents.
  • Helps to develop a plan of care for addressing physical and psychological concerns of the resident by identifying the problems, specific goals and the interventions on all Assisted Living residents.
  • Measures and record vital signs every 120 days and as needed.
  • Assesses, communicates and documents residents' status and changes as needed.
  • Reports to MD, families, RCA's, Resident Care Director and Executive Director any significant changes in behavior or health of a resident.
  • Recognizes and assists in prevention of elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation and reports to the Resident Care Director and Executive Director immediately.
  • Accurately completes a follow- through process for all accidents and incidents.
  • Attends Nursing Meetings and In-services.
  • Demonstrates and educates staff about infection prevention and control policies.
  • Educates the community as well as the community residents.
  • Assists in scheduling nursing associates.
  • Orients and trains all nursing RCAs as directed by RCD.
  • Assists with yearly review of RCA.
  • Provides corrective action in discipline for associates as needed.
  • Responds to emergencies and call alarms immediately.
  • Refers any residents needing skilled care to an Home Health Agency of their choice.
  • Supervises and evaluates each RCA's skills ,including medication prompting,and recertifies every 120 days.
  • Keeps all medical records up to date and organized.
  • Assists with reassessment of all ALSA residents every 120 days
  • Obtains and carries out MD orders as needed
  • Carries out all ALSA policies and procedures
  • Participates in programs of continuing education such as seminars
  • Displays courtesy and friendliness at all times to residents ,remembering their rights to dignity and confidentiality
  • Functions as the Resident Care Director in her absence (for the LPN, with the help of 24hr on call by an R.N.)
*All associates will receive marketing orientation and in-service education and will be expected to support and participate in The Saybrook at Haddam marketing program.*

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE Must have:
  • An LPN or Registered Nurse license in good standing ,per state regulations
  • A valid Driver's License
  • The ability to be flexible and work in an environment that promotes teamwork and collaboration
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and complete assignments in a timely manner while managing multiple duties and responsibilities
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Physically able to move at least 50lbs.without assistance
  • Physically able to bend, reach, and work in small areas
  • Physically able to push and pull, equipment and furnishings
  • Physical stamina and ability to assist residents or lift residents when needed and in emergencies

ALSA NURSE
