Maplewood Senior Living is hiring a Registered Nurse as our Corporate Director of Nursing/Clinical Services. This is a Westport, Connecticut-based opportunity and will involve travel to our CT, MA, and OH communities and future travel to NY and NJ.

This Corporate Director of Clinical Services is responsible for developing and executing company-wide strategy for resident care, clinical service delivery, and clinical regulatory compliance in combined independent living, assisted living, memory care and skilled environments across multiple states. Ensures clinical excellence as the standard, where outcomes and accountability are paramount.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assesses resident, family and staff needs across the organization, and develops strategic and operational plans for the provision of resident care and the delivery of all clinical services and programs
  • Oversees all aspects of resident care and clinical services for all MSL communities including the integrated care model, nursing care, ancillary services, provider partners and care-related aspects of quality assurance, regulatory compliance, safety and risk management and resident/family/staff satisfaction
  • Leads, inspires and manages the care teams in each state including at least 5 direct reports (Regional Directors of Resident Care) to promote best practices and ensure optimal delivery of care and clinical services to all residents
  • Facilitates the design and development of evidence-based Standard of Practice, performance standards, and standardized workflows to ensure optimal efficacy, efficiency and outcomes
  • Collaborates with Executive Leadership to develop strategy, business plans and budgets that focus on all aspects of clinical and facility operations including setting priorities, staffing models, reducing costs, and maximizing revenue while ensuring outstanding care and services
  • Works collaboratively with other Executive Team members to develop priorities and goals on a property-by property basis to address resident needs in specific markets
  • Plays a lead role in addressing and resolving infractions or violations identified by staff or state regulators including developing and implementing action plans, plans of correction and new policies or SOPs
  • Uses Key Performance Indicators and business analytics to set goals, drive strategy, inform planning and monitor performance
  • Performs regular audits to ensure all communities are meeting all MSL and state standards and regulatory requirements

Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification

  • Minimum of 4 years of senior leadership experience preferably as a regional or corporate resident care/clinical director, senior director, director of nursing, or above
  • Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing, with a BSN preferably with advanced degrees/training and certification(s)
  • Previous experience as a Resident Services Director (RSD), Director of Nursing (DON) or similar roles
  • Proven and progressive experience in senior living, LTC, SNF, and/or home health care

The Registered Nurse Designee supports the Director of Nursing (Resident Services Director) in the administration of the nursing services.  In conjunction with the Director of Nursing, the Registered Nurse Designee directs, plans, and coordinates services activities of professional nursing and auxiliary nursing personnel in rendering resident care.  Interprets policy and regulations to all nursing personnel and ensures compliance.  Analyzes and evaluates nursing and related services rendered to ensure quality of resident care.  The Registered Nurse Designee in concert with the Director of Nursing assumes responsibility for providing oversight of the resident health care service’s needs, including the overall medication delivery system and the coordination of in-service training for the Resident Care Services Department.  The Registered Nurse  Designee contributes directly and positively to the team approach to quality resident care by attending to and assisting with a variety of physical, emotional and social needs to help residents maintain their highest level of independence possible.

Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification

  • Must be a Registered Nurse, licensed to practice in the state of Connecticut, with a minimum one year experience in assisted living or home care.
  • A passion for working with seniors is preferred.
  • Able to perform tasks which may be physically demanding such as pushing, bending and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with residents, their families, peers and other staff members.
  • In good physical and emotional health and free of communicable diseases.
