Purple Flag

FOR DEMENTIA CARE

Purple Flag for Dementia CareTMis a program developed to enhance the quality of services provided to individuals living with Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias in Assisted Living communities, Long-Term Care Facilities, Home Care Agencies, Hospices and other settings.  It is a collaboration between the Institute for Senior Living Education (ISLE), the Connecticut Assisted Living Association (CALA) and the Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter.

Our goal

Achieve a higher quality of life for persons with dementia.

The goal of the Purple Flag for Dementia CareTM program is to achieve a higher quality of life for persons with dementia and shall be accomplished through:

  • Enhanced staff education
  • Demonstration of a commitment to best practices
  • Self-attestation to statements of quality as recommended by the 2018 Alzheimer’s Association Dementia Care Practice Recommendations.
  • Recognition and accreditation with the Purple Flag for Dementia CareTM program shall qualify a provider for participation with a highly visible branding campaign informing consumers and related constituencies of the provider’s commitment to best practices.
  • ISLE began accepting the first applications for participation with the Purple Flag for Dementia CareTM program in the Summer of 2019.
